Book Direct with the Owner at Guided Horseback Ride Through Flame Azalea And Fern Forest with Tourism Bookings in Asheville, for all your Attraction and travel needs.

Itinerary

What To Expect Upon arrival at Arrowmont Stables and Cabins in Cullowhee, North Carolina ... you complete an Assumption of Responsibility form for each rider. Then you begin the safety program that includes a video or live horse riding and safety demonstration. Next meet the horses.

Get to know your horse’s personalities and try your horse out in ‘the ring’ before departing.
If necessary, we can provide you a different horse before leaving on your guided ride. Helmets (as well as raincoats/ponchos) are provided at no charge.

Trail times are approximate. It is hard to "push button" a horse to be exact. Depending on your skills, your group and horses, it may take more or less time for your trail ride.

Some RIDING TIPS:
• Horses don't know they are big. That's why we can control them with the bit in their mouth.
• Horses think like little children and expect you to protect them.
• You NEED to know this. Whoever is most stubborn wins. YOU need to be more stubborn than the horse.

We took our four sons on a horseback ride on Christmas Eve. It was a beautiful day with great scenery. They were very friendly at the stable. We are not horse people so we didn't know what to expect. The horses were very well trained. It was a great time.

We have no riding experience. The tour guide kept us safe while guiding our family thru some steep hills. We didnt bet on the beautiful landscape during our ride nor the small history and horticulture lessons. If you plan on having in the area for awhile this was def a god time to be outside with animals.

I don’t usually write reviews, however I felt compelled after such a wonderful experience with Arrowmont stables this week. I am a “vacation rider” and this was the best riding experience I have EVER had! I was blown away by the beauty and scenery on the two hour trail ride through the serene forest with it’s gorgeous red and orange autumn leaves. It was so peaceful, riding along and seeing these gorgeous leaves gently float through the air… It was so surreal and peaceful! The property is gorgeous and there are wild horses that roam the property. I even saw a mama lamb with her new little baby. Plus, adorable 4 mos old kittens. Nancy made me feel very welcome and Josh did a great job as our trail guide. The horses are well-kept and well behaved I felt very comfortable riding them. These nice folks up at Arrowmont stables don’t rush you ; they want you to have the best experience. I especially appreciated the training video prior to the ride. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK ON MY NEXT TRIP!!!

As a solo traveler, I instantly felt at ease at this stable. The workers were all hospitable and made sure I was comfortable. Josh was our guide, and one can tell the compassion and care he has for these horses. The scenery is just breath-taking and no photograph can truly capture the beauty of the natural surroundings. I hadn't been on a horse in the mountains since my childhood, but felt secure and safe on Spike. I would highly recommend this stable and tour to anyone looking to break out of their comfort zone a bit and enjoy some forest bathing in the mountains on gentile horseback.

Awesome family experience. The trail ride goes up the mountain and the view is just breathtaking. Even our 23 and 19 year old “kids” had a blast!!!!

The ride was very relaxing as we trailed through the mountain. Ground was wet from prior rain so muddy. Would of liked to see more open views of countryside. Guide was very informative. Can’t compete with nature.

Our tour guide, Josh, was very knowledgeable about the tour, horses, and history of the area. He would stop intermittently to make sure everyone was still comfortable on their horse and asked if we had any questions. It was an amazing experience to get ride a horse through the Smokey Mountains. We’ll definitely be going back!!!

Husband was afraid prior to ride and only been on a horse once before our ride. He now can stop talking about how much he enjoyed the ride and how impressed he was with Scout. The scenery was lovely. Only wish was that we could have taken photos along the trail. Overall, great experience.
